The Ethnosphere

WE HOLD A MEN’S CALL EVERY MONTH. SIGN UP FOR CALL-IN DETAILS

Today is Indigenous People’s Day.

And I can’t wait to be with you tonight.

Take a moment and watch this phenomenal TED Talk by Wade Davis: The World Wide Web of Belief and Ritual. The ethnosphere is at risk. And humanity is losing wisdom that we will not be able to recover. Wisdom that we will need if we are to survive collapse.

There is a link between patriarchy and white supremacy. I am not saying that white people have a monopoly on patriarchy. But I am saying that patriarchy enables white supremacy. Listening to Davis we see how a specific perspective, a way of being supported by guns, germs and steel, became the force that now shapes the course of human history.

500 years is nothing. It is the blink of an eye. And yet it seems to be shaping everything. Erasing what came before. Leading us to lose ourselves.

We. You and me. We have been shaped as men under a very limited idea of what power is, what success is, what meaning is.

What can we do to expand our perspective? What would it take to call on archetypes like that of warrior and medicine man? How can we reimagine masculinities that are more aligned with a time when we understood that everything is connected to everything else?

It is good to be a man. Let’s find ways to remember together.

Talk soon!
