I think of “holding” and “grounding” as core capacities of conscious masculinity. On our last call. Before election day. When we had no idea what the outcome would be. And many of us were concerned about civil unrest. We spent time preparing to show up as conscious men during times of uncertainty.

It was on that same night. Before the election. That Brené Brown released this powerful reflection: Strong Backs, Soft Fronts, and Wild Hearts. Please listen to it this week. It will anchor our call on Monday. 

Brené speaks of the way many of us walk around with a hard front. Mistaking it for strength. While what we are actually doing is blocking our heart. We are not accessible. And if we are not accessible we can connect. We cannot be helped. And we cannot serve. We cannot do the work of conscious men.

Let’s take a different stance instead.
