The Lover and Culture

On Monday, December 11 - my mama’s birthday! We will dive into the section of King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, that looks at the masculine archetype of the Love as it is impacted, even rejected by different cultures (pp 125-131.)

Reading this subsection is a good time to remember that we’ve been studying an important classic that is also a dated text.

Before you read:

• Reflect on the Archetype of the Lover as he shows up in your culture. Consider many angles. Consider popular culture. Consider longer historical culture, including your religious background, if you had any. Consider older tales as well as current stories. Consider the impact of ideology or political identity on how the Lover is allowed to show up.
