Transformative Justice
WE HOLD A MEN’S CALL EVERY MONTH. SIGN UP FOR CALL-IN DETAILS
I have heard adrienne make an important distinction between restorative justice and transformative justice. Restorative justice aims to restore the relationship and community to the way it was before the harm was caused. Transformative justice aims for the relationship and community to become better than it was before the harm was caused.
It is such a beautiful perspective. Such a powerful way to engage this churning process of growth and evolution.
There is no way to do men’s work without turning our attention to justice, to accountability, to atonement for harm done. If we are to become conscious men, it is important that we turn towards our shame. It means taking full responsibility. And this is best done when we hold each other with an eye towards transformation.
How to Support Harm Doers in Being Accountable
I am called to share the above video I caught on adrienne’s instagram feed this morning.
I am inspired by the possibility of cultivating a community of men who become skilled at transformative justice. I don’t want to throw away.
Looking forward to our next call.
