State of Emergence

Here is the clearest articulation of how I think about what we are doing.

What happens after we wake up?

Back before podcasts were podcasts I used to faithfully listen to “Beyond Awakening: The future of spiritual practice,” hosted by Terry  Patten. He interviewed the most dynamic spiritual teachers on the planet today. Always asking: what do we do now? We’ve done the spiritual work. What will it mean for life in the real world?

Imagine how thrilled I am, that almost a decade later, I am the one being interviewed by Terry Patten! Terry is an evolutionary. And so of course his work has evolved. He now hosts a phenomenal podcast, “State of Emergence.” It is part of an ambitious project to build what he calls “A New Republic of the Heart.” People “coming together to address our urgent global challenges by doing the inner work of personal transformation AND the outer work of civic engagement.”

Terry is a teacher who has greatly influenced my life. He is now becoming a friend. And he is a visionary actively experimenting with bringing people together “to become the next-stage citizens who can navigate this profound meta-crisis.” People “joining hands in grateful brave commitment to personal transformation, next-level friendship, and real-world social action.”

We are kindred spirits angling our way in the same direction. Listening to spirit. Opening our hearts. Bringing people together. Relentlessly experimenting. Placing our lives in service of this new day that is longing to emerge.

Enjoy our conversation. It really is the clearest articulation of how I think about my work. Please let me know what you think. How can I get even more clear?
