Let's Meditate
I’ve been a meditator for about 12 years. I have experienced ebbs and flows in my practice and I have meditated every day of 2016. On February 29 I will be concluding a 60 day meditation “challenge.” A commitment to meditate at least 20 minutes per day every day for 60 days. I don’t want stop. And I want to invite you to join me.
On March 1st a group of us will commit to 40 days of meditation and we are inviting you to join us. We invite you to commit to a minimum of five minutes of meditation every single day for 40 days. Five minutes is a great place to start and build from, it is a perfect way to begin to train the mind and it is small enough to undercut hidden fears and the stubborn resistance that often keeps us from becoming more free.
There are reams of data and thousands of years of experience telling us that meditation is an optimal practice for those of us who want to be fully alive. It is good to meditate and it is even better to do it in community.
If you would like to be a part of this social experiment text MEDITATE to (617) 934-1661 to receive periodic text reminder and join the Evolutionary Leadership Facebook group so we can check-in and talk about our practice. This will be a great experiment!
I don’t see myself as a meditation teacher. I am familiar with many schools and I draw on whatever feels appropriate at any given time. I encourage you to take five minutes per day, to sit and to let everything be as it is. This is a practice of “no problem” that I learned from Jeff Carreira. If you need something to focus on practice paying attention to your breath. And for those of us that want to practice something a bit more involved I know that a good “metta” meditation can fill your whole day with positivity.
Be flexible with yourself. Take your time finding out what works for you. All that matters is that you commit. Take at least five minutes per day every single day for 40 days. I am committing to 20 minutes, and on day 40 of our experiment I will get to celebrate my 100th day of meditation. Join us! This will serve our evolution.
