Oedipal
Let’s talk about the Mother. Let’s talk about our relationship with our mothers, and how it has defined our masculinity. Present or absent? Healthy, unhealthy, or a little bit of both?
As we continue our slow reading of King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, let’s read the section on the Oedipal Child, stopping right before we get to “The Hero.” Ask yourself, which shadow do you relate to here? The mama’s boy? The dreamer? The Don Juan syndrome?
I am deeply impacted by the connection the authors are making between the “Oedipal Child” and our spiritual longing for the Great Mother, the feminine aspect of the divine. And by the way in which this holy longing can cast a shadow that limits our access to conscious masculinity.
I am looking forward to diving into this with you. Our relationship to our own mothers, and our longing for the Great Mother. It’s going to be quite a night.
See you next week!
Saludos,
Gibrán
